How to Receive Postal Packages

If your permanent place of residence is not specified, you can take the following measures to receive your postal package:

Use the postal address of friends and relatives with their permission.

Use public delivery services at your nearest post office.

Rent a post office box.

Sending a letter weighing less than 30 grams based on the August 2013 tariff is as follows:

- Domestic postage within Canada: 77 cents

- Postage to the United States: $20.1

- Postage to other international destinations: $80.1

Canada Post has introduced a permanent stamp to eliminate the cost of stamps. If you have larger or heavier parcels with standard dimensions, the cost will be higher. Additionally, the cost of postage will vary based on distance and speed of delivery. If you need your shipment to reach the recipient faster, you can use special postal services or other courier companies. Some of these companies include UPS, Purolator, and FedEx. Keep in mind that expedited shipping comes with higher costs. Purchasing postage stamps is possible at post offices, retail stores, and online.

If your address has changed or you have recently relocated, you can use the mail redirection service. With this service, you can ensure that your letters are not lost. It allows you to forward letters sent to your previous address to your new address for up to 6 months. This service incurs a fee and can be extended after 6 months. However, some government mail and letters from health and immigration offices may have "not forward" written on them and are not eligible for this service.

Writing the address on the letter:

To send a letter within or outside Canada, the sender's address should be written in the top left corner of the envelope, the stamp in the top right corner, and the recipient's address in the center of the envelope. Canadian postal codes consist of 6 characters, including letters and numbers, arranged from left to right in the following format: letter-number-letter, number-letter-number.

Viewing all postal codes online is possible. Never send cash through regular mail, as there is no guarantee of its delivery. Most people use Western Union service for sending money. However, the cost of sending money is generally high, and the amount depends on the sum being sent. You can inquire about methods of sending money and their costs at your bank.
