Canada sends $33 million worth of air defense missiles to Ukraine
Canada has recently joined a three-month effort alongside several key allies to send air defense missiles to Ukraine. Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair, who was in England today, announced Canadian facilities in the military training camp in Lviv will be used for Canadian military personnel involved in training Ukrainian armed forces.
This amount comes from the $500 million fund that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had announced in June 2023 for military assistance to Ukraine.
In the same month, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands, and the United States cooperated and delivered hundreds of medium and short-range air defense missiles to Ukraine to assist in countering Russian missile and drone attacks.
Canadian armed forces have been conducting training courses in Lviv for approximately 2,600 Ukrainian military personnel for over a year and a half, covering areas such as weapons handling, first aid, and infantry tactics.
Canada has provided over $8 billion in assistance to Ukraine in the past year and a half, including $1.8 billion in military aid, which includes weapons, ammunition, military equipment, drones, and winter clothing.
