All news about Canada will be deleted from Facebook and Instagram within a few weeks
After successfully completing a test phase of removing Canadian news on Facebook and Instagram, Meta is now seriously implementing this restriction for Canada in the coming weeks.
According to this news, Meta will officially block access for Canadians to all news on the Facebook and Instagram platforms.
As announced by the company, within the next few weeks, access to all users' news on Facebook and Instagram platforms will be suspended.
Previously, Meta evaluated this plan by implementing access restrictions for 5% of users to Canadian news during the trial phase, and now it enters full implementation after completing the testing phase.
This means that links to news articles and other content posted by Canadian media will not be visible to individuals who have access to social media platforms in Canada.
This decision by Meta is in accordance with the Online News law of the Liberal government, which was passed earlier this summer.
