Helicopter crashes while fighting Long Lake, N.S., wildfires
A Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources helicopter on a mission to control wildfires in the Long Lake area crashed Friday afternoon. The incident occurred in shallow water at around 4:24 p.m., the department said.
The pilot was conscious and talking to firefighters when they arrived. He was quickly rescued and taken to a medical facility around 6 p.m. for evaluation.
Transport Canada, which investigates all aviation accidents, has also been notified of the incident.
