Quebec students were banned from using cell phones in classrooms after winter break
Quebec's new law banning the use of cell phones in classrooms will take effect when students return from vacation, becoming the second province to implement such a measure after Ontario.
The directive, aimed at reducing distractions in the classroom, takes effect Dec. 31 and applies to schools and public guidance, but gives elementary teachers flexibility to allow students to use phones for specific practical use.
Many Quebec schools already had rules restricting cellphones in classrooms before Education Minister Bernard de Ville introduced the ban in August, but some child advocates say the restrictions are too limited. They make it harder. , is for the benefit of children.
