The 13-year-old driver of the off-road vehicle was killed in the eastern counties of Quebec
A 13-year-old boy driving an off-road vehicle died Sunday evening in a crash in Coticoke, a town in Quebec's eastern counties.
Provincial police (SQ) spokeswoman Ève Brochu-Joubert described the vehicle as "industrial," which the Quebec Automobile Insurance Board defines as a vehicle "made or assembled by a person for personal use."
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on Mills Ladd Road around 5:45 p.m.
According to preliminary information, the off-road vehicle left the road and collided with a truck that was moving in the opposite direction.
There were two people in the truck, both of whom were not injured.
The young driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead.
The SQ is investigating the circumstances of the incident.
