Heavy rain and lightning hit Toronto
Toronto residents witnessed thunderstorms and heavy rain, especially in central areas of the city, early Tuesday morning as the heat wave entered its second day.
In addition to the heat wave warning issued for the entire week, Environment Canada also issued a special weather statement for Toronto on Tuesday.
The weather will be partly cloudy in the rest of the morning and afternoon, and it will clear by evening. However, there is a chance of thunderstorms again on Thursday and heavier showers on Friday morning.
Following the heat warning, the City of Toronto has taken steps to help those vulnerable to the heat:
Homeless people can escape the heat at 24-hour homeless shelters, shelters and drop-in centers across the city.
The working hours of 10 outdoor swimming pools in the city have been increased.
