Recall of more than 600 thousand Hyundai and Kia cars in Canada
Important Safety Recall for Hyundai and Kia Vehicles in Canada and the United States
Two reputable automobile manufacturers, Hyundai and Kia, have recently issued a crucial safety recall for a significant number of their vehicles in Canada and the United States. This recall encompasses 326,942 Hyundai vehicles in Canada and 1,642,551 in the United States.
Affected Hyundai models include some produced between 2010 and 2015, such as Accent, Elantra, Tucson, Santa Fe, and other models. The issue lies in the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which may develop brake fluid leakage. This leakage could lead to electrical connections and, consequently, potentially result in accidents like fires.
According to Hyundai's statement in an email, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities related to this issue thus far. Nevertheless, in the interest of safety, Hyundai recommends that owners of affected vehicles promptly visit an authorized dealership for inspection and, if necessary, brake replacement.
Furthermore, Kia has also initiated a safety recall for several of its vehicle models, including Optima, Forte, Soul, Sportage, Rio, and other models manufactured between 2010 and 2017. The primary problem in these vehicles also pertains to a short circuit in the brakes.
Kia has reported that approximately 276,225 vehicles in Canada are subject to this recall, and owners of affected vehicles are advised to park them in an open space as a precautionary measure against potential incidents.
To confirm whether your vehicle is affected by these safety recalls, you can check your vehicle's Identification Number (VIN) using the information provided in the recall notice. These safety measures are essential to ensure the well-being and safety of drivers and passengers.
