A 27-year-old man opened fire inside a Montreal taxi
A 27-year-old man who was riding in a taxi was shot Friday night in Montreal's Park Extension neighborhood.
Montreal police (SPVM) were called to the scene near St. Roch Street and Corbes Street around midnight on Saturday.
Upon arrival, officers found a man inside the taxi with at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.
Paramedics tried to revive him but failed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SPVM has not released the victim's name, but confirmed he has no criminal record.
Police say one or more people shot at the victim who was inside the taxi and fled before the officers arrived.
The taxi driver was not injured but suffered a nervous shock.
The man's death is the third homicide on the island of Montreal in 2024.
The investigation is ongoing.
