5 suspected organized crime figures arrested for 3 Montreal and Quebec homicides
Three of the suspects are scheduled to appear in court in Montreal today, while the other two will be transferred to Montreal to appear in court at a later date.
The Montreal police (SPVM) announced in a news release that the first homicide occurred in June 2023 in Charlemagne in the Lanaudière region of Quebec. A 32-year-old man, Noel García-Frias, was shot and killed on St. Therese Street while getting into his Audi. It is said that this person may have been mistaken for someone else.
In August of that year, a 28-year-old man was shot and killed while leaving a bar on St. Catherine West in Montreal.
Then in May 2024, a 27-year-old man was shot to death on Park Avenue in the Ahontsic-Cartierville area of Montreal. Montreal police arrested two suspects a month later and are searching for 27-year-old Dylan Dennis, who is wanted in connection with the murder and is on Canada's 25 most wanted fugitives list.
The five suspects arrested this week are all men between the ages of 26 and 35 who were arrested in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia. The men were arrested after searches were conducted in Montreal, Sherbrooke, Cambridge in Ontario and Kamloops in British Columbia.
Montreal police added: "These arrests join twelve other arrests made last summer as part of a joint investigation between the Montreal police (SPVM) and the Quebec police (SQ). "Most of the people arrested were connected to criminal street gangs in Montreal and Laval."
The Laval and Edmonton police have also assisted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Royal Canadian Guard (RCMP) in this case.
Anyone with information about the murders or related incidents can call 911 or their local police station.
