Toyota is recalling more than 100,000 vehicles in Canada due to airbag problems

Toyota Canada announced Wednesday that it is recalling more than 100,000 vehicles for problems with front passenger airbags.
The recall covers 99,965 Toyota and Lexus models from 2020 to 2022, including the Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Corolla, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid and Sienna Hybrid, the company said in a statement. . Affected Lexus models include the ES250, ES300H, ES350, RX350 and RX450h.
Toyota says these cars have problems with the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensors in the front passenger seats. OCS sensors ensure the front airbag deploys if it detects the weight of a front-seat passenger, but Toyota says the sensors in these cars can short-circuit, which could result in the airbag not deploying in a crash.
