Toronto is one of the cities in Canada with the loneliest people

According to a recent report, Toronto in Canada is recognized as one of the cities with the highest rate of individuals experiencing loneliness. Based on the "Toronto's Vital Signs" report presented by the Toronto Foundation in 2023, approximately four out of every ten individuals in this city face feelings of loneliness for three to four days a week.
Analyses indicate that 37% of Toronto residents have reported experiencing loneliness for at least three days a week, surpassing the rates in other cities examined in this report. A national survey in Canada reveals that 28% of people in other regions and large cities also grapple with feelings of loneliness. In other cities like Vancouver, 28% of individuals feel lonely, while Montreal holds a lower loneliness rate with 17% among major cities.
In other areas as well, people commonly experience loneliness; for instance, 35% of residents in the Maritimes province and 28% of those in the Calgary-Edmonton region report feelings of loneliness. Many Toronto residents have disclosed having fewer friendly relationships compared to the pre-pandemic era. This is noteworthy as, in 2018, the majority of Torontonians stated having close friends. One of the primary reasons for this loneliness is attributed to difficulties in establishing social connections.
The report also indicates that other factors impact the mental health of Toronto residents, including work-related stress and high expenses. Over 50% of respondents express concerns about themselves or family members lacking stable full-time employment. Additionally, 22% of Toronto city employees report feelings of fatigue.
