Saskatchewan gas utility could face steep fines and jail for not remitting carbon tax
REGINA - Federal law says a Saskatchewan natural gas company could face hefty fines for failing to pay the federal government a carbon tax, and its executives could face jail time for failing to do so.
Premier Scott Moe announced this week that SaskEnergy will not eliminate the natural gas carbon tax starting Jan. 1 unless Ottawa exempts the fuel.
