$150 fine for overflowing leaves in Burlington!
The city of Burlington has announced new rules to prevent leaf accumulation in public spaces; any overflowing leaf that blocks a sidewalk, road, bike path or sewer system could result in a $150 fine.
📅 The new rule goes into effect Oct. 14 and aims to reduce the risk of flooding and protect pedestrians and cyclists.
💡 This season, the city will offer education and warnings instead of direct fines. But any subsequent violations will carry a $150 fine.
⏰ Leaves must only be picked up on or near the boulevard during the city’s designated pick-up schedule; leaving leaves outside of the schedule or on the road will result in a fine.
📌 Enforcement begins now, with the fines to be enforced more aggressively starting in 2026.
