Toronto-bound Air Canada flight performs emergency landing in Houston

An Air Canada flight from Mexico City to Toronto had to make an emergency landing in Houston last week.

On Friday, Oct. 13, a plane carrying 166 passengers depressurized the cabin due to a malfunction in the plane's air conditioning, according to Canadian Airlines.

"According to our standard operating procedures, the pilots lowered the aircraft to below 10,000 feet and deployed oxygen masks, but it was not necessary to use them as there was sufficient oxygen in the cabin," said Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick. Wednesday's statement

The pilot requested an emergency landing to gain priority and create a slot to land in Houston as the stop was not scheduled.
   The Boeing 737 Max plane landed safely and was not damaged.
