The action of the passenger to open the plane door on the Vancouver-Toronto flight
On a flight from Vancouver to Toronto, the plane had to stop in Winnipeg after a passenger tried to open the plane's door. WestJet said in an email that Flight 710 was diverted to the Manitoba capital after Friday's incident. The airline said that in accordance with standard protocol, the RCMP was contacted upon arrival at Richardson International Airport and the passenger was detained. RCMP have arrested an 18-year-old boy from Victoria, British Columbia, on charges of endangering an aircraft under the Aviation Act. According to WestJet, it is not possible to open pressurized aircraft doors at high altitudes. The flight continued to Toronto shortly after the stop, the airline added.
