12-year-old boy struck and killed by recycling truck in Pitt Meadows
Tragedy in Pitt Meadows: A 12-year-old boy was killed by the driver of a garbage truck while riding his bike to school in Pitt Meadows on Wednesday.
According to Ridge Meadows Police reports, the incident happened near the intersection of 116A and 196B Streets. Despite the efforts of emergency services and firefighters, unfortunately the child died at the scene. The truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
Authorities believe that drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the incident.
The Ridge Meadows Police Serious Crime Unit is investigating the incident and would welcome any witnesses or video and images of the incident. This painful incident has caused grief and sadness to the local community.
