The Speaker of the House of Commons finally resigned

Certainly, we should note that the main reason for the international community's reaction to this event was to some extent the presence and speech of "Volodymyr Zelensky," the President of Ukraine. Zelensky, whom we mentioned earlier, was introduced at the ceremony as a war hero and, according to available reports, was hailed as one of the soldiers who fought for the First Ukrainian Division during World War II. However, it appears that this soldier was previously a member of the SS Nazi forces and had committed crimes against Jews, Poles, Slovaks, and Belarusians.
Furthermore, it should be added that "Anthony Rota," the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, expressed regret and apologized for his actions after this incident. He also stated that none of the members of the Canadian Parliament, and even the Ukrainian delegation, were aware of his plan to introduce this elderly soldier. However, an interesting point here is that all Canadian representatives applauded him after the introduction of this soldier, and even Vladimir Zelensky raised his fist in a sign of appreciation, and Justin Trudeau also stood up to applaud him. Rota also described this Ukrainian veteran as a Ukrainian and Canadian hero and thanked him for all his services during the war.
All of these events ultimately stirred the reaction of the Jewish community, and they demanded an apology from the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada. However, it seems that the apology and the resignation of the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada were not sufficient to resolve this issue, and the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center also joined these individuals to hold a hearing for Rota. According to reports, their main goal in doing so is to investigate the failures and actions needed to prevent such incidents in the future.
In a statement on Wednesday, this organization stated, "The decision of the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada has deeply affected the lawmakers of Canada and the global community. This incident has jeopardized all 338 members of the Parliament and sent a significant message to Russia, all at a time when Canada and Ukraine were trying to show their unity. This incident has also caused distress to the Canadian Jewish community, Holocaust survivors, and other victims of the Nazi regime, and therefore it needs to be thoroughly examined and addressed."
