The American teenager killed his sister with a gun in a fight over a Christmas gift
A 23-year-old woman was shot and killed by her 14-year-old brother during an argument over Christmas presents, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in Florida. The shooting happened on Christmas Eve in Largo, a city in the Tampa Bay area. In this incident, 23-year-old Abril Baldwin, who was the mother of two children, was killed.
The three siblings went Christmas shopping on Sunday with their mother Joyce and sons Abril, 11 months and 6 years old, according to a Pinellas police press release. They were shopping when 15-year-old Darcus became jealous that their mother, Joyce, had bought more gifts for 14-year-old Damarcus, and they got into a fight.
After leaving the store, they went to their grandmother's house and were still arguing when a fight escalated between them and Damarcus pulled out his gun and threatened to shoot Darcus in the head.
While putting her 11-month-old son in a stroller, Baldwin approached her brother and asked him to end the argument. But Damarcus also got into an argument with his sister and threatened to shoot her and her baby.
The 14-year-old then shot his sister, Baldwin. The bullet passed through his left arm and entered his chest. But her baby was not harmed.
Shortly after the shooting, their other brother Darcus realized that Damarcus had shot his sister. This time he took out his gun and shot Damarcus. He then threw his gun into the nearby yard and ran away but was finally caught by the police.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene of the shooting and transported Baldwin and DaMarcus to a local hospital. Damarcus underwent surgery, but Baldwin was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to reports, the two boys always carried guns and both had previous convictions for carjacking and other crimes.
