The winner of the $68 million Lottery 649 jackpot will be announced on Wednesday
After the Gold Lotto wasn't won on Saturday night, the winner of this week's Lotto 649 draw will undoubtedly take home a historic jackpot of 68 million dollars.
Officials from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) announced that one winning ticket worth 5 million dollars in the Classic section of the draw was purchased in Simcoe, and another ticket worth 1 million dollars in the Niagara Falls area. Additionally, a 1 million dollar Encore winning ticket was purchased online at OLG.ca.
According to OLG officials, since the Gold Ball wasn't drawn, there will be a 68 million dollar jackpot in the Thursday draw. The previous largest Lotto 649 jackpot dates back to April 2023 and was awarded to a 64 million dollar ticket holder in New Brunswick. A resident of Mississauga also won a 64 million dollar jackpot in 2015. The last Gold Ball, worth 42 million dollars, was won on June 14, 2023, by an individual from Niagara Falls.
