Ontario English elementary teachers vote to approve new four-year contract

Ontario's elementary English teachers have ratified a contract with the province, ending more than a year of deadlock.
The English Teachers Union of Ontario (ETFO), the union that represents more than 80,000 teachers and temporary teachers, said 90 percent of its members voted in advance for the four-year central agreement.
"Although this period of negotiations has been very long and ugly, ETFO members have resisted cuts, made improvements in working and training conditions, and won," ETFO President Karen Brown said in a statement Friday.
"It agrees that due process of law is to work in such a way.
