Domestic dispute call results in $132K drugs, weapons seizure
Officers investigating a family dispute at a home in northeastern Ontario early Monday found several guns, ammunition and a large amount of drugs.
The call came in to Temiskaming shortly after 5 a.m. Dec. 11, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Friday.
Officers were dispatched to a home on Highway 11 in the town of Aventure near Englehart, where they found guns and drugs.
The search was later carried out with the assistance of the crime officer, emergency response team, dogs and the Kirkland Lake Community Street Crime Unit.
During the investigation, police seized several firearms, ammunition, suspected narcotics, cannabis and methamphetamine, along with some Canadian currency, the OPP said.
The total value of these discoveries is estimated at $132,000.
As a result, a 28-year-old local man has been charged with drug trafficking, multiple weapons offenses and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
"The accused is awaiting a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury," police said.
