Ottawa residents invited to serve up opinions on future use of pickleball and tennis courts
Pickleball or tennis? The City of Ottawa is asking players to provide input on the future use of the city's fields.
With pickleball the fastest-growing sport in North America and demand for court space increasing across Ottawa, the city says it needs an outdoor tennis and pickleball strategy to ensure players have access to both. Sports has identified.
The city launched a public opinion poll Saturday to help create a strategy that will serve as a reference guide for the management, oversight and development of outdoor tennis and pickleball courts managed by public and municipal clubs.
The City of Ottawa currently has over 500 outdoor tennis and pickleball courts, including mixed courts.
Earlier this year, pickleball games at the Manotick Tennis Club's outdoor courts in Centennial Park were shut down after complaints about noise. The sound of paddles and plastic balls caused some residents to call for an end to the game on the field.
