Power outages in a large part of downtown Toronto
A power outage covered a large part of downtown Toronto today, Wednesday, and it may take hours to reconnect. According to Toronto's power outage map, more than 5,000 homes and shops are without power.
Power outages continue from Sherburne and Gerrard streets to Lake Shore Boulevard and Cherry Street. Traffic lights are out along West Dundes Street from River Street to above Sherburne Street, as well as along portions of Richmond and Shutter Streets.
Power crews are on the scene and Hydro Toronto said power is expected to be restored around 2:30 p.m.
It is not yet clear what caused the outage.
