A man was sexually harassing women on the pretext of asking for help in using translator applications

A man allegedly behind several sexual assaults in Etobicoke asked female victims for help using translator apps before sexually assaulting them, according to Toronto police. Police officers were called to Queensway and West Mall just before noon on October 24, 2023, following a report of sexual harassment. The man approached a female victim and asked her to use a translator app to speak to him, police said. The suspect stood near the victim and extended his hand for a handshake, and while they were shaking hands, the suspect pulled the victim close and sexually assaulted her.

According to investigators, it happened twice more on November 5, 2023 at Queensway and Islington Street and on January 9, 2024 at Queensway and West Mall. It is said that the same man approached different women and did the same to them. In the latest incident, the suspect sexually assaulted three different women.

The man is described as 70-80 years old, with short gray hair and a European accent, who often wears a black hat, jacket and blue jeans. He also rides a gray rally mountain bike with a red/black helmet.
