13-year-old Faye DiFazio Ebert of Toronto won skateboarding gold at the Pan Am Games.

In a remarkable feat, Faye Fazio Egbert, the youngest member of Team Canada, has announced that she will be leaving the Pan American Games this year as the youngest gold medalist. This 13-year-old sensation claimed the gold medal in the women's park event on Monday with a top score of 84.66 in her second run out of three in Santiago, Chile.
Brazil's Raíka Ventura secured the silver with a score of 82.54, while Bryce Weinstein from the United States took home the bronze with a score of 79.95 at the brand-new Urban Sports Park in Santiago. Egbert's victory marked her fifth gold at this year's games, having already secured four gold medals on Saturday. In addition to her gold haul, she has two silvers and three bronzes in her collection.
As the youngest athlete on Team Canada, Faye Egbert typically trains four hours a day, six days a week, and competes with a duck sticker on her helmet. She has always embraced the pressure of competition, stating last April, "I love the pressure of performing in the moment. It's a great feeling to land a great run or receive big air. I've never felt like I had to compete or train; I chose to do this because it excites me." Egbert was introduced to skateboarding at the age of 8 and quickly made her mark on the national competitive scene. She narrowly missed representing Canada at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where the sport made its debut.
