Warning of extended power outages in British Columbia in the coming months due to the effects of the wildfires
Given the extensive wildfires in British Columbia this summer, BC Hydro has informed the province's residents to expect prolonged power outages in the coming months.
A spokesperson for BC Hydro stated, "This year, British Columbia experienced its most severe forest wildfires in history, leading to the destruction and drying out of many large trees. These trees are now susceptible to falling with every severe storm, heavy snowfall, or rain, which could potentially damage power transmission cables and result in power outages."
Residents of British Columbia are also advised to have an emergency kit with supplies that can support them for up to 72 hours during power outages.
