Two people were arrested after assaulting an elderly person and stealing three cars
Police in Nova Scotia say a man and a woman have been arrested after stealing three vehicles and assaulting an elderly man in Cumberland County.
According to a news release from the Cumberland Regional RCMP, officers responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers realized that a man forced his way into the house and punched a 67-year-old man and stole his blue Mazda CX-9. The SUV was abandoned shortly after running out of gas.
Police said the suspect then, with the help of an accomplice, stole a second vehicle, a gray GMC Sierra, from a street in Wentworth. The couple sped away and later crashed the car, police said.
"These two people and another vehicle, (a blue Ford Transit) were stolen from a street in Wallace Ridge," said Cst.
The next day, officers arrested the man and woman at the Wentworth residence.
