TTC server Rick Leary has resigned
TTC CEO Rick Leary has resigned. His last day on the job will be Aug. 30. Leary said in a statement that while this is a difficult decision, he believes that new opportunities and challenges await him before he retires. Leary first came on board in 2017 as interim CEO. At that time, then-CEO Andy Byford became head of the New York City Department of Transportation, and Leary's appointment became permanent in 2018.
Before that, Leary had been the TTC's chief service officer since May 2014. He called the recent agreement between the transit workers union and the transit agency "his last big commitment."
Leary said: "I believed it was my duty and obligation to reach a new agreement before I step down." She thanked Mayor Olivia Chow and former Mayor John Tory for working with them.
In a statement, Chow thanked Leary for his years of service, saying, "For the past decade, Rick has dedicated himself to the TTC and worked tirelessly to keep it afloat and to help passengers through some of the most challenging He added that more details about TTC's new CEO will be released in the coming weeks.
