Canada updates income requirements for Parents and Grandparents Program
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced that the income threshold required to sponsor parents and grandparents will increase in 2025.
To sponsor two people, an applicant must have a minimum income of $47,549 in 2024, an increase of about $3,000 from last year.
This amount increases depending on the number of family members and can exceed $100,000 for large families.
The Parent Sponsorship Program (PGP) registration process begins on July 28, with 17,860 invitations to apply. This year, the cap has been set at 10,000 complete applications.
The average processing time for applications is 24 months, but in Quebec, it can take up to 48 months.
Applicants must also provide tax documents for the past three years or grant IRCC access to their tax information.
