With the first heavy snowfall of the year in the GTA, Ontario police say there have been more than 340 accidents on the city’s highways and streets in the past 48 hours alone.

Slippery roads and reduced visibility have caught many drivers by surprise, causing heavy traffic on major routes.

Police are urging residents to drive with extra caution, install winter tires early, and allow extra time to get to their destinations, as winter has arrived earlier than usual this year. ❄️
