Bay and Algoma Buskers Festival marks 10th year
The 2025 Buskers Festival in the Bay and Algoma area of Thunder Bay was a success despite the inclement weather. The two-day event, which celebrated its 10th year on Saturday and Sunday, featured live performances, food vendors and merchandise.
Performers from Thunder Bay and around the world performed at the festival, including:
Steve Goodtime
Sab and Fritz
Fraser Hooper
Sky De Guy
Hungry Kashmir
D Kid
Creed Sculpture
Women in Silk
Tycho Drummers
Phineas Gage
and the B Street Bastards
Co-organizer Uriel Lubbock said heavy rain on Sunday morning delayed the start of the program, but the event went well. “It was great to see the arts and cultural community so well-involved. Great vendors, lots of smiling faces, happy kids,” he said.
“Our goal has always been to have free family fun,” he added. “People come out, tip the buskers, see new and amazing things they’ve never experienced before.”
“I’m just learning about folk music,” said local performer Zachary Ross, who performed both days. “I do free gigs at the Lakehead Beer Company and I love the community.”
“I think it’s great. I love seeing everyone come out and have a good time,” he said of the festival.
The festival is back after a four-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, and Lubbock said organizers are already planning for next year to make it even better.
“We just want to keep it going, for the right reasons, free family fun and… yeah, smiles,” he concluded.
