Thousands of toddler step stools recalled after child's head gets stuck

Five models of Qaba Toddler Kitchen Helper 2 Step Stool made by Aosom Canada Inc.are offered, they were recalled due to the risk of "getting stuck".

According to Health Canada, the space between the back bars of this product may cause a child's head to become trapped, making this an "entrapment hazard."

The e-commerce company announced that 6,656 of these Chinese-made products were sold in Canada from July 2021 to October 2024. The company is headquartered in Markham, Ontario and sells its products through major retailers such as Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, LaBlause and Wafer.

"Stop using the recalled products immediately and contact Aosom Canada for corrective instructions for reuse," Health Canada wrote in a statement.

As of December 3rd, Aosom Canada has received one report of a child's head getting stuck in the bars of this product in Canada.

Health Canada first issued the recall on Dec. 6 and expanded it on Tuesday.

Five affected models

This recall covers the different colors of this product with the following model numbers that are listed on the outer packaging:

Creamy white (model: 312-050V00CW)
Gray (Model: 312-050GY)
Light blue (model: 312-050V00LB)
Pink (Model: 312-050V00PK)
