The Air Canada passenger tried to open the plane's door at high altitude
An Air Canada passenger on a flight between Toronto and Montreal tried to open the door at high altitude. This incident happened on January 20 and luckily no one was hurt.
According to Canadian media reports, the passenger, whose identity has not been revealed, pulled the emergency door release pin after the plane took off from Toronto airport. The flight crew immediately noticed this and engaged with the passenger. Finally, the passenger was arrested from opening the plane door.
Air Canada confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the flight crew acted quickly and effectively to prevent any injuries. The company also said it would cooperate with local authorities to investigate the incident.
Opening an airplane door during flight can be very dangerous. Cabin pressure is very low at high altitude, and opening the plane door can lead to a severe decrease in cabin pressure, lack of oxygen, and even explosion.
In 2005, a Helios Airways Boeing 737 crashed on a flight between Athens and Prague due to a loss of cabin pressure, killing all 121 people on board.
