
Relief from sweltering conditions expected in parts of Canada after days of heat
After days of sweltering heat, temperatures are expected to drop in some parts of Canada.
The scorching heat will continue today in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, but some areas are expected to see significant relief.
A multi-day heat wave in southern British Columbia that has affected much of Vancouver Island and parts of North Thompson and the South Okanagan ends today.
In southern Ontario, warm conditions are set to continue for some time, with the heat spreading north beyond Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, as well as east into southern Quebec.
According to Meteorological Canada, cooler air will move in tonight, bringing temperatures that have been in the 30s with a humidity index near 40.
Similar temperatures are expected in the Atlantic provinces through Wednesday, with parts of Newfoundland expected to remain so until Thursday or Friday.
Environment Canada is advising people to limit their time outdoors and watch for signs of heat exhaustion.
