Tesla will unveil a "robotaxis" on August 8.
Elon Musk has long been interested in self-driving vehicles and claims they will be one of Tesla's most important products. Musk announced Friday afternoon on X (formerly Twitter) that Tesla will unveil its "Robotaxis" on August 8.
His post was simple and didn't give any other details. The CEO of Tesla and the owner of X published a post in this regard and said: "Tesla will unveil Robotaxi on 8/8".
Musk has said in the past that Tesla will build a car without human control. He has repeatedly said that at some point, the cars could operate as fully autonomous taxis, earning money for their owners on their own without a driver present.
Five years ago, in April 2019, Tesla said it expected to begin operating robotaxis by 2020. The company predicts that self-driving cars will last 11 years and travel 1 million miles.
