Quebec City bus driver arrested for drunk-driving after collision
The driver of a Transit Capital (RTC) bus in Quebec City was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after a crash late Friday night.
Police were called to the scene of the crash near the intersection of René-Lovésque Boulevard and Cardinal-Bégin Avenue around 11:40 p.m. A 911 caller reported a crash between a car and an RTC bus, the driver of which appeared to be intoxicated.
"The police found that the man was indeed showing signs of alcohol intoxication," William Robitaille, a spokesman for the Quebec City Police (SPVQ), said in an interview Saturday morning. The driver was arrested and taken to the police station for an alcohol test.
"After testing, we were able to confirm that the driver's blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit," Robitaille added.
None of the passengers on the bus or the driver of the car involved were injured.
The driver of the RTC bus, a 50-year-old man, was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
