Pasqua First Nation releases app to provide instant news to citizens
Pasqua First Nation leadership announced the release of its news app on Monday, saying it will keep citizens connected and informed.
"It is our job as leaders to lead the country in a way that ensures our members have access to current information," said President Matthew T. Piegan. "New technology gives us an opportunity to always stay connected with our citizens."
The First Nation built its app using Communikit, an app platform designed for First Nations and Indigenous communities.
This app provides access to news and information about social events, available jobs and emergencies.
Users can also use this platform to contact the national government, fill out forms and save posts.
"When our users fill out forms in the app, their private information is not stored on a third-party server. This is sent directly to the relevant employee via encrypted email, so we can rest easy knowing our data privacy is intact,” said Treena Lealalii, Nation navigator.
