Ontario universities warning: We do not tolerate camping
The University of Toronto and the University of Ottawa said they understand that tensions are high and that many people feel concerned about the suffering of people in the Middle East, and that peaceful protest is an important part of democratic life and campus life, however, They have a clear policy whereby the use of university facilities without necessary permits can have serious consequences and demonstrations must be organized within the scope of university policies and regulations.
The University of Toronto announced that: "Activities without permission, such as camping or occupying university buildings, are considered trespassing." The University of Ottawa also announced that setting up a camp will have serious consequences.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford said at a news conference: "You know what I want? I want everyone to build together. Of course, there are conflicts in different parts of the world. They (students) want to express their opinion, and this is one of their democratic rights. So do it peacefully. That's all I want."
"Ontario is known for its inclusiveness," he said.
