Granola bars and breakfast cereals recalled across Canada due to salmonella risk
On Thursday, the Quaker Canada brand announced the recall of dozens of types of granola and cereals due to the possible risk of salmonella. In this recall, 38 types of granola and cereals of this brand, including the original Quaker Harvest Crunch granola cereal, Quaker Chewy Chocolate Chip granola bars and There are Captain Crunch Treats. So far, no illness related to the consumption of these products has been reported. Consumers are asked to dispose of the affected products immediately.
According to Health Canada, symptoms usually begin within 6 to 72 hours of exposure to salmonella and may include chills, fever, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain and/or a sudden headache.
Although most people recover on their own within four to seven days, some people may experience more serious conditions that require hospital care and may even lead to death.
