Analyses suggest that in 2023, the cost of food, particularly items like vegetables, dairy, and meat, is expected to increase by 5 to 7 percent in Canada. This price hike encompasses butter, vegetables, meat, wine, and processed products as well. Sylvain Charlebois, a national food researcher, emphasizes that food expenses in Canada are noticeably on the rise in 2023, and we must prepare to face this situation.
