Canada ranked last among ten wealthy countries in providing access to primary health care.

In a new report recently published by the Canadian Institute for Health Information, Canada ranks last among the ten richest countries in providing access to primary health care. According to the report, in 2023, only 86 percent of the Canadian population had access to a doctor or a regular place to receive medical services, down from 93 percent in 2016. These statistics show that almost four million Canadian adults do not have access to primary care services.

Also, the results of a survey show that Canada ranks at the bottom when it comes to being able to make an appointment for the same day or the next day, with only 26% of adults able to see a doctor quickly. Lower-income people in Canada are less likely to have a primary care provider, and many people suffer from chronic illnesses without access to primary care.
