Trudeau: Newfoundland and Labrador prime minister's request to delay carbon tax is a sign of giving in to political pressure

In the latest political developments in Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau lashed out at Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Fury. Trudeau accused Fury of bowing to political pressure because Fury had called for a delay in raising the federal carbon tax. Canada's Prime Minister emphasized the importance of fighting climate change and supporting technological innovation, stating that carbon tax refunds would benefit about eighty percent of Canadian citizens.
Andrew Fury's office, on the other hand, pointed to existing limitations for Newfoundland and Labrador residents to reduce their carbon tax burden and called on the federal government to halt the tax increase. The dispute has fueled intra-party challenges among Liberal leaders over carbon tax policy.
