The walk of the Minister and the elderly of Montreal on the International Day of the Elderly

On October 1st, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, the Minister for Seniors of Quebec joined a group of seniors who were participating in a walk in Montreal and outlined the provincial plans for the elderly. "Sonia Blanger," the Minister for Seniors of Quebec, took advantage of this occasion to state, "Caring for the elderly is our shared responsibility towards a diverse community in which they play a fundamental and valuable role." She added that the International Day of Older Persons, established by the United Nations in 1990, provides an annual opportunity for reflection on the rights of older persons and related principles, namely their well-being.
The Minister for Seniors of Quebec emphasized the necessity of taking appropriate actions to enhance the well-being of Quebec's elderly population, stating, "Our goal in the government is to continue creating better conditions for healthy and active seniors, and we consider all Quebec seniors in our programs with the help of our partners." On Monday morning, Montreal's seniors simultaneously walked together in celebration of this day. "Sonia Blanger," the Minister for Seniors of Quebec, also participated in a 3-kilometer walk named "AGISSONS ENSEMBLE" aimed at promoting the welfare of seniors. This walk began at Jean-Mance Park, and Louise Deschâtelets also spoke during the event. Additionally, on the International Day of Older Persons, regional hosts in Quebec organized various activities throughout the province.
It is worth noting that during the COVID-19 pandemic in Quebec and Montreal, a significant number of Quebec's elderly population unfortunately passed away, highlighting the need for improvements in the care system for seniors in nursing homes.
