The shocking price of packaged foods in Ontario stores

A Canadian woman who was shocked by the prices of packaged food items in stores shared her thoughts on social media. She posted a TikTok video that included a packaged Caesar salad, a four-pack of mozzarella balls, and a small tray of meat and cheese.
She displayed these four items and said, "Do you know why people steal from grocery stores? It's because this costs $23!" The salad is priced at $10, the mozzarella balls are around $5, and the small meat and cheese tray is nearly $9. She pointed to a container of Häagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream and added, "Tell me why each of these items is more expensive than this unhealthy ice cream that shouldn't encourage people to buy, which is $4.99, but these individual items are cheaper."
Most people responded to her by saying that one should not buy packaged food items from grocery stores because they are generally expensive. In one of the comments, it was mentioned, "If you make a salad yourself, it will cost you much less. Packaged salads are really expensive."
Many also emphasized that when you buy packaged food items, you're also paying for the packaging. However, another TikTok user had a different perspective. They pointed out that buying all the ingredients separately costs more, saying, "I find it really funny that some people say not to buy packaged food. Buying all the individual ingredients for making a salad costs $15, while buying the packaged salad is cheaper."
