Ontario funding projects aimed at using hydrogen to power electricity grid

Ontario has allocated nearly $6 million for nine projects aimed at using hydrogen to power the province's power grid.

The bulk of the funding goes to Atura Power to combine hydrogen with natural gas—up to 15 percent by volume—to generate electricity at the Halton Hills station.

The government says it will be the largest electricity-based, grid-connected, low-carbon hydrogen fusion project in Canadian history.

Energy Secretary Todd Smith says this will help produce an even more sustainable energy system.
