Air Canada flight returns to Toronto after 3 missed landings

A normal three-hour Air Canada flight turned into a nightmare for passengers. After the Air Canada plane failed to land at its destination after three attempts, it had to fly again to Pearson International Airport.

Flight AC698 took off at approximately 9.45pm on Monday, according to the flight data tracking website. The plane was en route to St. John's, Newfoundland and was scheduled to arrive at its destination at 2:20 a.m. local time.

After approaching St. John, this plane tried to land but was unsuccessful the first time. The plane attempted a second botched landing and failed on its third attempt to land, eventually having to return to Toronto.

Instead of a fourth attempt, the pilots decided to return the plane to Pearson Airport. This plane landed in Toronto at 4 am and its flight time was 6 hours and 43 minutes.

An Air Canada spokesperson said: "Upon arrival at St. John's, crosswinds prevented the aircraft from landing safely. "With the severe winter weather affecting other airports in the region, returning to Toronto was the best option."
