WestJet canceled about 40 flights due to the mechanics strike
WestJet has canceled about 40 flights due to a strike by maintenance workers, which is expected to begin Thursday night.
According to this airline, about 6500 passengers have been affected by this decision.
WestJet said: "We are very sorry to find ourselves in a position where we have to activate our contingency plan. "We deeply regret that this has caused disruption to passengers' travel plans."
About 670 WestJet mechanics, given a strike notice earlier this week, are set to walk off the job and strike on Thursday night.
A spokesperson for Toronto Pearson International Airport wrote on X: "With the cancellation and consolidation of flights of this company, some flights scheduled for today Thursday at Pearson Airport have been canceled. "We continue to monitor this situation and will provide any updates as they become available."
