The Ontario couple had kept the news of winning the $70 million lottery prize from their family for months

An Ontario couple who won the $70 million Lottomax lottery prize kept the news from their family for months. Doug and Enid from Lakefield Ontario were the winners of the February 20, 2024 drawing. Doug explained that he found out they had won the day after the draw when he checked the ticket on the OLG mobile app. Doug decided not to tell his wife until she got home from work. He prepared the Eid dinner and waited for them to start eating before breaking the news. He then took Enid into the room and showed her the OLG website on the computer screen. At first, Enid thought it was $70,000, but upon closer inspection, she realized it was $70 million.

Doug and Enid decided to keep their multi-million dollar win a secret for a while and avoid telling their children and grandchildren. During this time, they were looking for a financial and legal advisor.

About a week before receiving the award, Doug and Enid finally told their children and grandchildren about this good fortune.

"I want to travel across Canada to see the beautiful nature of this country," said Enid. I've been dreaming of a new kitchen for years, and now I'm going to bring it home, along with some other high-end things. "We love where we live and we don't want to move."

The winning ticket was purchased at a store located at 121 Kawartha Lakes County Road in Kinmont, Ontario.
