Ontario man's golf clubs break and bend on Air Canada trip
A man from Ontario, Canada, and his wife, Rose, were flying from Florida to Toronto. Aldo packed his golf clubs in a soft travel golf bag designed for air travel. Rose, Aldo's wife, was told to check the golf bag with the rest of the regular luggage and place it on the conveyor belt. They asked the official if the golf bag should not be checked in with large luggage, to which the official told them that, no, that's fine and there is no problem.
When their luggage was delivered in Toronto, Aldo noticed that his golf clubs were broken or bent. He contacted AirCanada and filed a complaint. After investigating the complaint, Air Canada agreed to take responsibility for the damage to the golf clubs.
Air Canada paid Aldo $2,000 for new golf clubs. Aldo said he was satisfied with Air Canada's action and believed it was a fair solution.
The incident prompted Aldo to urge other travelers to take safety precautions when traveling with golf clubs. He recommends putting golf clubs in a hard golf bag and carrying it as carry-on luggage.
